This headline is false. There are no puns herein.
A month ago, Topless Robot held a contest to win a Robin or Catwoman t-shirt by making a meme about either. The directions specifically noted that any iteration of these characters were fair game & there was no limit on entries until the deadline. I didn’t actually want either shirt, but I was a bit disappointed in the variety of images selected by the other contestants. So I did what any sane person would do & spent an entire weekend making Robin & Catwoman memes. Never let it be said I don’t have my priorities in order!
So here are more memes made by me. Rather than make this super-duper long, I’m dividing the Robin & Catwoman entries into separate posts. The Catwoman memes are up first BECAUSE SHE’S CATWOMAN!
Click onward to view virtually vandalized visuals of a mildly diverting nature with intermittent joke-ruining commentary!
This Catwoman is actually Holly Robinson. You may remember her from The Dark Knight Rises where she was portrayed by Juno Temple. Or you would have if Christopher Nolan hadn’t called her Jen to screw with fans.
We still love you, Black Cat!
I actually made this last night so you can’t accuse me of never making brand new content for the site.
SPOILERS for Wanted!
This is the alternate caption I forgot to enter into the contest, so it’s also new!
I once read an interview (that I haven’t located online) where Frank Miller explained that his portrayal of Catwoman in Batman Year One was an apology to how he treated her in The Dark Knight Returns. He was apparently not sorry for making her a prostitute as he made it a core part of her origin instead of just a possible future.
This Catwoman is Eiko Hasigaway. The other woman is Selina Kyle. Catwoman is totally into herself.
Everybody knows Ivy Pepper is a Flapper cat’s name.
I like plenty of Kevin Smith movies, but I wager The Widening Gyre was a key factor in launching “The New 52” continuity reboot.
Perfectly lining up the caption over the title was difficult but so worth it!
The grammar is a bit wonky on this one, but I’m not fixing it. This is Catgirl (Kitrina Falcone). She sort of counts since she was Catwoman’s protege.
Catwoman’s had plenty of origins that barely explain how she became the Queen of Crime. For all its prequelitis & tonal whiplash, Gotham’s decision to just make teen Selina Kyle an acrobatic thief is genius in its simplicity.
Superman’s Girlfriend Lois Lane # 70-71 may be Catwoman’s crowning moment of badassery. She even gets Lois Lane to wear her costume, so that’s another Catwoman who isn’t the original in case you ever get quizzed on it.
Catwoman’s Kitty Car is stupendous & needs to be brought back into mainstream continuity (much like Killer Moth’s Mothmobile) with all deliberate speed! The same goes for her Catplane! It’s not a fair fight if Batman’s foes don’t get their own high-tech theme vehicles.
This is Annabelle Lagravenese, the barely veiled Catwoman stand-in from Joe Casey’s Sex. I couldn’t find a decent picture of her in her Shadow Lynx costume. By the way, Sex is awful & you shouldn’t waste your time reading it.
Patience Phillips is not from the comic books so she matches the rest of the movie.
This scene is also better than the rest of I Now Pronounce you Chuck & Larry.
The caption isn’t quite accurate, but there’s the original Batwoman, Kathy Kane. She is a distinct character from the current Batwoman, Kate Kane, because comics are always more confusing than necessary.
This was back when Prometheus wasn’t terrible.
Hey, if I don’t pick the low hanging fruit it’s just going to rot on the vine.
Of course memes aren’t actually memetic if you don’t use them to pollute strangers’ thoughts. So feel free to pass these around like a social disease. I only request that you attribute them to Matthew Catania or include a pingback to my blog, The Twitter, or Fan Page.
